Chelsea defender David Luiz will reportedly hold talks with the club over a new contract during the coming weeks.
Luiz's future at Stamford Bridge seemed uncertain after he made only nine Premier League starts for the club last season, but he has since established himself as a key member of new manager Maurizio Sarri's starting lineup.
The 31-year-old's current contract is due to expire at the end of the season, and The Mirror reports that Chelsea are now looking to take steps to avoid losing him on a free transfer next summer.
The Blues are hopeful of agreeing a new deal before January, when Luiz will be free to begin talks with clubs outside of England.
Chelsea rarely offer contracts of longer than one season to players over the age of 30, but they are understood to be eager to secure the Brazilian's long-term future.
Luiz has made more than 200 first-team appearances during his two spells at Stamford Bridge.
