Fluminense reportedly make the first move in their attempt to sign Chelsea defender Thiago Silva next summer.

Fluminense have reportedly identified Chelsea defender Thiago Silva as a transfer target ahead of 2022.

Despite turning 37 years of age last month, Silva remains an integral part of Thomas Tuchel's first-team squad at Stamford Bridge.

The veteran has made 43 appearances in all competitions since his arrival in 2020, nine of which have come during the current campaign.

However, with the centre-back's contract due to expire in the summer, he will inevitably attract interest from numerous clubs with different profiles.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Fluminense have already initiated conversations regarding the possibility of a reunion with their former player.

Silva, who has never shied away from acknowledging his fondness for the Brazilian club, made 143 appearances for Fluminense before joining AC Milan in 2009.

Thirteen years after his departure, the report suggests that Silva is open to returning to the Maracana.
