Galatasaray plotting £5.7m John Obi Mikel move?

A report in Turkey claims that Galatasaray are hoping a bid of £5.7m will be enough to sign Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel.

Galatasaray have reportedly prepared a £5.7m financial package to convince Chelsea to sell John Obi Mikel during next month's transfer window.

The Nigerian midfielder has struggled for regular action under Jose Mourinho's management this term, having made just nine appearances in all competitions.

He also has just 18 months left to run on his contract at Stamford Bridge and with an offer of fresh terms unlikely to arrive, Turkish outfit Gala have decided to make their move, according to Takvim.

However, the report adds that Gala may face competition for the 28-year-old's signature from local rivals Besiktas.

Mikel joined Chelsea in 2006 from Norwegian side Lyn.
