Former Everton striker Andy Gray has admitted that he would be "amazed" if John Stones does not complete a move to Chelsea.
The Premier League champions have been linked with the young defender for the majority of the summer, and have had two bids turned down from the Toffees, who are keen to retain the England international.
A recent report claimed that Chelsea were lining up a third offer in excess of £30m for Stones, and Gray thinks that the transfer is inevitable at this stage of the transfer window.
"I would be amazed if, at the end of August, John Stones is still at Everton," Gray told talkSPORT.
"It is still a work in progress for Roberto Martinez and if the bid is £35m to £40m I don't think Everton can turn that down.
"I would be very surprised if Roberto hasn't got something set up should the deal happen so he is ready to move when it does – and I think he will be ready."
Stones joined the Toffees from Barnsley in 2013.
