Inter Milan will hold talks with Chelsea regarding Romelu Lukaku's future following the Champions League final, according to a report.

Inter Milan will reportedly hold talks with Chelsea regarding Romelu Lukaku's future following the Champions League final against Manchester City on June 10.

The 30-year-old has had his injury problems this season, spending time on the sidelines with hamstring and muscular issues, but he has largely been fit and available since the start of the year.

Lukaku has contributed 13 goals and six assists in 34 appearances for Inter during the 2022-23 campaign, but he is set to return to parent club Chelsea this summer.

A recent report claimed that incoming Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino is open to working with the Belgium international next season.

Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta also said earlier this year that Lukaku would be returning to Stamford Bridge this summer, with the Italian giants deciding against re-signing him on a permanent basis.

Lukaku has expressed a desire to secure a long-term return to San Siro, though, having initially represented the Milan giants between 2019 and 2021, scoring 64 times during an excellent spell.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Inter have re-opened the door when it comes to Lukaku's future, with the club impressed by his form since returning from injury.

Romano claims that the Serie A giants will hold talks with Chelsea after the Champions League final, with Simone Inzaghi's side preparing to face Man City on June 10.

Lukaku has scored five goals in his last four league appearances, including a strike in Saturday's 3-2 win over Atalanta BC, which moved Inter into second position in the table.

The forward also provided an assist in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final against AC Milan earlier this month, and he continues to show signs of his best form for the club.

Lukaku still has another three years left to run on his contract at Chelsea, though, and it will be up to the Blues to decide whether he leaves on a permanent basis this summer.

The Belgian returned to Stamford Bridge in a £97.5m deal in the summer of 2021, but he found it difficult to make his mark for Chelsea last term, only managing 15 goals in all competitions.

Inter will play Champions League football next season, but the same cannot be said for Chelsea, who have had a disastrous campaign at domestic level, with the London club sitting down in 12th position in the Premier League table.
