Juventus 'hopeful Leonardo Bonucci will sign new contract'

Juventus are reportedly confident of persuading Manchester City and Chelsea target Leonardo Bonucci to sign a new contract.

Juventus are reportedly hopeful that Leonardo Bonucci will reject Premier League interest to sign a new contract with the Serie A giants.

The 29-year-old is believed to have attracted interest from Manchester City, as well as Chelsea, who are said to be considering launching a world-record bid in excess of £50m in the January transfer window.

Recent reports have claimed that Juventus would be open to letting Bonucci leave for Chelsea if Cesc Fabregas were included in the deal.

However, according to Goal.com, the Italian club are confident that they can persuade Bonucci to sign a new five-year contract worth €8m (£7.2m), which would make him one of the highest-paid players at the club.

The report adds that chief executive Beppe Marotta has already opened talks with the defender's agent Alessandro Lucci.

Bonucci's current contract expires in 2020.
