Liverpool have reportedly held talks with Benfica and Borussia Dortmund over deals for Enzo Fernandez and Jude Bellingham this month.
The Reds are widely reported to be in the market for several midfielders, with James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all out of contract at the end of the season.
Foot Mercato's Anas Bakhkhar reports that discussions between Jurgen Klopp's side and the Portuguese and German clubs have begun this month.
The Englishman is the club's number one target, however, they face competition from the likes of Manchester City and Real Madrid for his signature, that could cost up to £150m.
Meanwhile, the Argentine is attracting interest from Chelsea and Madrid, and is also likely to cost in excess of £100m.
Liverpool currently sit ninth in the Premier League, 10 points behind Manchester United, who currently occupy the final Champions League qualification spot.
