Bundesliga outfit Mainz 05 have confirmed the signing of Yoshinori Muto.
The 22-year-old is believed to have recently turned down a switch to English champions Chelsea.
However, the striker has now decided to leave FC Tokyo, having agreed a four-year deal at the Coface Arena.
"We spent a long time watching Yoshinori Muto because we're certain he'll fit in at Mainz and with our style of play," head coach Martin Schmidt told the club's official website.
"He's a quick, agile and technically gifted forward who can play out wide, and he'll bring us added qualities in those positions."
Muto has scored one goal during his 11 outings for the Japanese national side.
