Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori is set to join AC Milan in the January transfer window, according to sporting director Paolo Maldini.
Tomori has fallen out of favour under head coach Frank Lampard and is looking to leave the club in the hope of more regular game time.
Maldini has stated that a deal for the Englishman to join the Serie A leaders is now close to completion.
"We wanted Fikayo Tomori also last summer. He's always been one of our targets. He's perfect for our squad - we're working on the last details," Maldini told Sky Italia.
The 23-year-old impressed during a loan spell with Derby County in the Championship two seasons ago under Lampard, but since returning to Chelsea, Tomori has seen the likes of Thiago Silva and Kurt Zouma picked ahead of him.
Tomori, who made his senior England debut in October 2019, has made just four appearances for Chelsea this season, with only one of those coming in the Premier League.
