Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo has claimed that he will speak with winger Florent Malouda over his position at the club.
The 32-year-old became a free agent at the end of the season following the expiration of his contract with the Champions League winners.
While reports have claimed that the Frenchman is considering a move to Brazilian outfit Santos, Di Matteo has suggested that a new contract for Malouda could be on the cards.
"Players are now slowly returning. Malouda was back today and we expect the others to come when we are on the East Coast [of America]," Di Matteo told the club's official website.
"I still haven't had a chance to speak to Florent, so I need to speak to him first and see what his intentions are. Then we will see what the best interests are for him and the club.
"At the moment, I am very happy with the squad. We have a good squad, a very good team and have new players with us already."
Malouda moved to Stamford Bridge in 2007.
