Belgium boss Roberto Martinez: 'Charly Musonda can't moan at lack of game-time'

Belgium boss Roberto Martinez insists that Chelsea winger Charly Musonda cannot "moan" about his lack of match action at Stamford Bridge.

Belgium boss Roberto Martinez has claimed that Charly Musonda should have followed Chelsea's wishes and gone out on loan this season.

During the summer, Musonda made the decision to fight for his Blues place but the 21-year-old has recently taken to social media to voice his frustration after being limited to starts in the EFL Cup.

However, while Martinez has acknowledged that Musonda needs to gain regular football, the national team coach has insisted that the youngster can have no complaints about his current predicament.

The 44-year-old told So Foot: "We all know his talent, but he's reached a period in his life where he needs to play.

"In fact, the club wanted to loan him, but he didn't want to go because he thought he would be playing. In that case, it's quite hard to moan about your situation.

"You need to distinguish two things with young players. Their potential and their performances."

Musonda - who has just over 18 months remaining on his contract - has been linked with a January move to Arsenal.
