Jose Mourinho has reportedly expressed an interest in making former Blackburn Rovers boss Steve Kean his assistant manager at Chelsea next season.
The Portuguese coach has been strongly linked with a return to Stamford Bridge in recent weeks, with his tenure at Real Madrid likely to finish this summer.
Mourinho historically likes to employ a coach from the country he is working in and wants Kean to join any potential backroom staff in West London, according to The Mirror.
Kean has been out of work since ending a controversial reign as Blackburn manager last September, with The Mirror also claiming that the 45-year-old turned down the chance to take over at Panathinaikos last month.
With Kean a fluent Portuguese speaker, the Scot is on the verge of an unlikely return to Premier League football next season if Mourinho does go back to Chelsea for a second spell this summer.
