Newcastle United have reportedly set their sights on Chelsea forward Timo Werner, ahead of a possible approach in January.
Following last week's successful takeover of the Magpies by a Saudi-led consortium, the rumour mill is constantly swirling around the possible additions that the new owners could make in the upcoming transfer windows.
According to Christian Falk, the North-East outfit have made contact with German striker Werner, with the agent of Magpies defender Fabian Schar also representing the Chelsea man, providing a link between the two parties.
Since the Blues' capture of Romelu Lukaku in the summer, Werner has started just three Premier League games this campaign, after scoring 12 and assisting 15 goals as they finished fourth and won the Champions League last season.
The 25-year-old earned a move to the English top flight after an eye-catching spell for RB Leipzig, netting 28 goals and providing eight assists in 34 Bundesliga appearances in the 2019-20 season.
