Chelsea chief Petr Cech is pushing for the Blues to sign Werder Bremen goalkeeper Jiri Pavlenka, according to a report.

Chelsea performance advisor Petr Cech is reportedly pushing the Blues to make a move for Werder Bremen goalkeeper Jiri Pavlenka this summer.

The Czech Republic international has spent the last four years with the German giants, but Bremen's relegation last season means that he is set to play second-tier football for the 2021-22 season.

Chelsea are facing uncertainty surrounding their current goalkeeping situation, as Willy Caballero has departed while Kepa Arrizabalaga is being tipped to head out on loan to Lazio.

As a result, German outlet Deichstube reports that Cech wants Chelsea to pull off a deal for his compatriot Pavlenka as a backup to current number one Edouard Mendy.

However, the report adds that the 29-year-old remains content in Bremen despite his side's relegation, and Burnley are also said to be preparing a €3m (£2.6m) swoop should Pavlenka ultimately decide to seek out first-tier football.

The former Slavia Prague shot-stopper has kept 33 clean sheets in 155 games for Werder Bremen, but a back injury forced him to withdraw from the Czech Republic's Euro 2020 squad.
