Miralem Pjanic plays down Chelsea move

Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic praises Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard, with the club reportedly lining him up as the Englishman's replacement.

Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic has admitted that he is "flattered" to be linked with Chelsea, but has played down reports of a move to the European champions.

It had been reported that Chelsea were preparing a move for the 22-year-old to replace Frank Lampard, who is expected to depart Stamford Bridge when his contract expires at the end of the season.

"I am flattered to be linked with a team such as Chelsea, a European Cup winner, but I have a contract here at Roma," Pjanic told reporters.

"Could I replace Frank Lampard? He is a legend there. He has done so much for the club and I hope to achieve such feats myself one day."

According to various reports, Pjanic could be available for as little as £12m.
