Chelsea will meet with the agent of Gonzalo Higuain later this week to push through a move for the Juventus striker, according to a report.
New Blues boss Maurizio Sarri is thought to be after a prolific striker ahead of his first campaign in charge at Stamford Bridge, which could spell the end for Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata as they attempt to balance the books.
Higuain is well known to Sarri, having netted 36 goals in 35 Serie A appearances at Napoli prior to his big-money move to Juventus two years ago.
Italian journalist Giulia Stronati suggests that Chelsea are closing in on the 30-year-old, with negotiations expected to begin with the player's agent and brother Nicolas Higuain on Wednesday.
Chelsea are rumoured to have already agreed a £44m fee with Juve, who have strengthened their attacking ranks during the off-season by bringing in Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid.
