Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is reportedly ready to perform a significant U-turn by re-opening contract talks with Frank Lampard.

Chelsea are reportedly planning to offer midfielder Frank Lampard a new contract at Stamford Bridge.

It had been expected that the Blues would release the 34-year-old on a free transfer when his current deal expires in June.

Lampard's agent said last week that he was certain that the player would switch clubs at the end of the season.

However, according to The People, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is ready to perform a significant U-turn by re-opening contract talks with Lampard.

Lampard, who is just 10 goals away from breaking Bobby Tambling's club record of 202, has found the net four times in his last five appearances.
