Report: Chelsea target Atletico Madrid defender Toby Alderweireld

Atletico Madrid defender Toby Alderweireld has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Chelsea this summer.

The Belgian international spent this season on loan at Southampton and has admitted that he wants to remain in England.

He told reporters: "I really want to go to a club that really wants me. There are three options - stay with Atletico, stay with Southampton or go to another club. So we will see what happens."

The Mirror reports that Southampton have an option to sign Alderweireld for £7m, but Chelsea are keeping tabs on the centre-back, who is also a target for Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.

The 26-year-old has played 43 times for his country.
