Report: Chelsea want Miranda

Chelsea reportedly line up a £19m move for Atletico Madrid centre-back Miranda.

Chelsea are reportedly lining up a move for Atletico Madrid defender Miranda.

The Blues are preparing a bid of around £19m for the Brazilian centre-back in an attempt to seal a replacement for David Luiz, who joined Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer.

Miranda played a key role in Atletico's La Liga win last season, and manager Jose Mourinho was impressed by the performances of the Los Rojiblancos star, according to Marca.

Kurt Zouma had been expected to fill the void left by the departing Luiz, but Mourinho wants a more experienced player at the heart of his defence to compete with John Terry and Gary Cahill next term.

Chelsea have already signed Diego Costa and Filipe Luis from Atleti this summer.
