Chelsea will apparently move for Inter Milan defender Andrea Ranocchia, if they allow David Luiz to leave the club when the transfer window reopens.
Luiz has been constantly linked with Barcelona and they are expected to make a January approach for the Brazilian, whom the Catalan giants see as a long-term replacement for Carles Puyol.
Blues boss Jose Mourinho is seemingly willing to let the 26-year-old, who has only started five Premier League games this season, quit Stamford Bridge if he can bring in a suitable replacement.
The Mirror claims that the Portuguese coach has identified Ranocchia, an Italian centre-half with 12 international caps, as somebody to pursue as Luiz's potential exit would leave them short at the back.
Ranocchia, 25, has made 11 Serie A appearances for Inter this season and is likely to command a substantially lower fee than Luiz, who is valued at around £40m by Chelsea.
