Kevin Doyle has said that he hopes his performances with MLS side Colorado Rapids can earn him a recall to the Republic of Ireland squad.
The 31-year-old striker moved to the United States in May, and has scored twice in his nine MLS appearances.
Doyle's most recent Ireland appearance came against Gibraltar in October 2014, with the striker recently losing his place in the squad to Ipswich Town strikers Daryl Murphy and David McGoldrick.
Speaking to The Irish Times, Doyle said: "If I am playing well, then it will certainly not hinder my chances of playing for Ireland.
"It will not do me any harm to be playing, enjoying myself and scoring some goals. I made the decision to come out here because it was good for my career and my family and I wanted to enjoy this experience. The decision was not made with how it would affect my international career."
Colorado are currently bottom of the Western Conference table.
