Paulo Wanchope resigns after being filmed fighting member of security

Former Derby County and Manchester City striker Paulo Wanchope resigns from his post as manager of Costa Rica after a video emerged showing him fighting with a man.

Costa Rica manager Paulo Wanchope has resigned from his post after he was filmed fighting a man while watching an Under-23 Olympic qualifying game against Panama.

The 39-year-old retaliated after being pushed by the man during the game on Tuesday, and the two had to be separated by a member of security.

After the video emerged online it was announced through a statement from Costa Rica that the former Derby County and Manchester City striker has tendered his resignation.

Wanchope scored 45 goals in 73 games as a player for Costa Rica before being named as his country's head coach upon Jorge Luis Pinto's departure following last summer's FIFA World Cup.
