Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew: "Players have been phenomenal"

Alan Pardew praises his "phenomenal" Crystal Palace players after they maintain their 100% record under his management with a 3-2 FA Cup win at Southampton.

Alan Pardew praised his "phenomenal" players after Crystal Palace made it four wins from four under his management by beating Southampton 3-2 in the FA Cup.

The Eagles twice pegged the Premier League high-flyers back at St Mary's Stadium before loan striker Yaya Sanogo scored the winner with his first goal for the club.

Pardew is particularly pleased with his forward options after Marouane Chamakh netted on his return to add to goals from Dwight Gayle last weekend, and feels that Saturday's results now make Palace potential FA Cup contenders.

"The players have been phenomenal," he told reporters. "I did have a chuckle this morning when I saw the think-tank in the paper when it said we had 0.02% chance to win the FA Cup, that's probably gone up a bit.

"I thought both teams were great. There was some really good football played. We are disappointed with the goals we conceded, but the third goal would have graced any pitch in the world.

"Yaya Sanogo was good, Marouane Chamakh was better so it gives me a welcome selection headache."

Palace, who are 13th in the Premier League table, are the highest-ranked side to have confirmed their place in the last-16 draw.
