Crystal Palace's most valuable players

Sports Mole takes a look at the most valuable players in the Crystal Palace squad.

Crystal Palace have become an established Premier League side over the last few years since securing promotion back to the top flight at the end of the 2012-13 campaign.

The Eagles have finished 11th and 12th respectively in the last two campaigns and currently sit 11th in this season's table, 12 points clear of the bottom three.

Roy Hodgson's side recorded three straight wins before football was halted last month, and there is no question that the experienced manager has put together a talented squad at Selhurst Park.

Here Sports Mole takes a look at the club's most valuable players.

The fact that Wilfried Zaha (£49.5m) is clear at the top of these rankings is not a surprise. It would perhaps be fair to say that the 27-year-old has not enjoyed the best of seasons, but there is little doubting that he would command the biggest transfer fee of any player in the Palace squad if all were made available.

Club captain Luka Milivojevic is second with a valuation of £22.5m, but the 28-year-old has actually only started two of Palace's last eight Premier League matches having fallen slightly out of favour.

Andros Townsend is third in the rankings, but the experienced attacker has only featured once in the Premier League since December 7 and has not been used in any of Palace's last four league encounters.

Christian Benteke is next up with a valuation of £11.7m; it has been another difficult season for the 29-year-old, though, who has managed just one goal in 20 Premier League appearances.

Patrick van Aanholt might argue that he is Palace's second-most important player after Zaha, meaning that his valuation of £10.8m is perhaps slightly on the low side. The same could also be said for Jordan Ayew (£7.2m) as the 28-year-old has scored eight Premier League goals this season, five more than Zaha.

Gary Cahill and Scott Dann have been excellent defensively in recent weeks; both players are approaching their mid-30s, though, and therefore the fact that they are down the list is not too much of a surprise.

Goalkeepers Stephen Henderson and Wayne Hennessey are the bottom two, while the lowest-ranked outfield player is Martin Kelly with a valuation of £3.15m. The 29-year-old has still made 19 Premier League appearances this season, though, and is an important squad player for Hodgson.

Number one stopper Vicente Guaita has enjoyed a very impressive season - keeping nine Premier League clean sheets - but the 33-year-old has only been given a valuation of £4.5m. Guaita's low position is arguably the biggest surprise on the list despite his age as the Spaniard has been vital to the team's success.
