Crystal Palace started life without Neil Warnock by picking up a point in a goalless draw with Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road.

It was the visitors who created the better chances early in the game, with Jason Puncheon striking the post during an extended spell of pressure.

QPR improved after the break, but neither team were able to find the breakthrough in a tight contest in West London.

Good afternoon everyone! 2014 is almost over, but we've got one more round of Premier League fixtures to enjoy before it's time to welcome in the New Year. Queens Park Rangers host Crystal Palace at Loftus Road, and I'll be guiding you through the action.

A hectic couple of days for Palace continues with this trip to West London, and they arrive with caretaker manager Keith Millen in charge of the team. Neil Warnock was relieved of his duties after the 3-1 loss to Southampton on Boxing Day. A new manager will surely arrive soon, but can Millen encourage the players to produce a reaction today?

It's a tough test for Millen, but he's been in this position before on a number of occasions. The players know the coach very well, and he shouldn't have too much trouble connecting with the squad. No wins in five have left Palace in the relegation zone. They simply have to be better against their rivals in the bottom half of the table.

For Harry Redknapp and QPR, it must be a relief to be playing at Loftus Road once again. Defeat at Arsenal on Friday made it nine losses in nine away games, and Redknapp will be fully aware that their form on the road will have to improve at some stage. However, the performances at home have been much better, and the QPR supporters will be expecting another positive result today.

RESULT: If you missed it earlier, one of the day's games has already finished. Manchester United were on top for long spells at White Hart Lane, but Tottenham Hotspur managed to secure a point in a goalless draw. Southampton vs. Chelsea is underway at St Mary's Stadium.

QPR: Green; Isla, Caulker, Dunne, Hill; Hoilett, Barton, Henry, Fer; Austin, Zamora

SUBS: McCarthy, Ferdinand, Phillips, Wright-Phillips, Onuoha, Vargas, Mutch

Redknapp has been busy making changes after Friday's loss at the Emirates Stadium. There's no place in the squad for Niko Kranjcar or Armand Traore, while Rio Ferdinand, Nedum Onuoha, Jordon Mutch and Eduardo Vargas all drop to the bench. Bobby Zamora and Leroy Fer are back in the side, and there are also recalls for Joey Barton and Clint Hill.

PALACE: Speroni, Mariappa, Dann, Delaney, Ward, McArthur, Ledley, Jedinak, Bolasie, Puncheon, Zaha

SUBS: Hennessey, Hangeland, Kelly, Bannan, Thomas, Doyle, Campbell

Millen decides to make just one change to the side which slumped to defeat against Southampton as Fraizer Campbell makes way for Wilfried Zaha. That could see either Jason Puncheon or Zaha start as a striker, but it wouldn't be a surprise if they rotated throughout the game.

Perhaps the least surprising bit of team news is that Charlie Austin starts in attack for QPR again. Despite ending up on the losing side, Austin scored his 12th goal of the season against Arsenal on Friday. That really is an excellent return for a striker playing for a team which is attempting to steer clear of the relegation zone. If QPR do stay up, Austin's goals will be key.

Palace supporters must wish they had a player like Austin in their squad. The QPR striker's 12 goals is double what the Palace forwards have managed between them this season. Goals win matches, and the Eagles have really struggled to finish chances recently. A hunt for a striker awaits in January, but can they cope today?

QPR have confirmed that they will be showing their support for Clark Carlisle today after he was injured in a car crash last week. It's a very nice touch from the club.

The importance of having an in-form striker in your squad is not lost on Zamora, who partners Austin in attack this afternoon.

"He has 12 goals now and that's brilliant. Hopefully, he can continue that and as a club we need to tie him down and get him a new deal. I'm pleased for him, he's doing well and he works hard. Without a shadow of a doubt other clubs will be looking at him. If they're not, then they're crazy because he can get you that goal," Zamora told reporters.

STAT: QPR are unbeaten in their last six matches against Palace, recording wins in each of the last three. Warnock was in charge of QPR for all of those wins over the club he was sacked by on Saturday.

A key factor today could be how Palace's lightning fast double act Wilfried Zaha and Yannick Bolasie perform against QPR's defence, which has been criticised plenty of times this season. Zaha and Bolasie have the skill to trouble any defender, and their trickery has delighted supporters in recent weeks. Clint Hill could be in the firing line today. The QPR defender has plenty of experience, but he may lack the pace to handle the duo if they play on his side. If Bolasie and Zaha do find space, they have to improve their end product, which can be a disappointment.

PREDICTION: Kickoff is just 10 minutes away, so it's time for Sports Mole's prediction. Palace have not had long to recover from the departure of Warnock, but Millen will make his side difficult to beat this afternoon. However, I fancy QPR to pick up another win at home. 2-1 to the hosts.

Speaking to the media before the match, Palace caretaker boss Millen has said: "We don't have time to dwell on the past. It is not a nice time, it has happened too many times before. I have been here before and so have many of the players. We know what we are about, and have to show that on the pitch."

Here we go then. The players are on their way out of the tunnel at Loftus Road and kickoff is just a few moments away in West London.

In Redknapp's 100th game in charge of QPR, it is Palace who will get the game started.

Fer gets on the ball early on for the hosts, but a poor touch on the edge of the box allows Palace to clear as QPR start the game brightly.

Delaney plays a risky game by sending a weak header back to Speroni, but neither Zamora or Austin are quick enough to beat the Eagles goalkeeper to the ball.

The early signs suggest that Zaha will lead the line for Palace, but he's seen very little of the ball so far. Puncheon and Bolasie are on the wings. The trio will surely be given the freedom to roam around in attacking areas.

Puncheon makes a good run into the box in an attempt to collect Mariappa's clever pass, but Dunne does well to come across and make the clearance.

Bolasie has done his best to reach the byline on a couple of occasions, but Isla has started the game very impressively against the tricky winger. It will be crucial for the Chilean to keep him quiet.

Jedinak makes a silly tackle on the edge of the box to gift QPR a free kick, but Barton can only hit the wall after winning the battle to target the top corner.

Before the game I mentioned Bolasie's end product, and he disappoints with an awful cross after finding a yard of space on the wing. He must do better when he gets in those positions.

We're still waiting for the first chance at Loftus Road, but Millen will perhaps be the happier of the two managers after seeing his defence perform solidly in the early stages. Both sides are struggling to pick the right pass in the final third.

Austin has seen very little of the ball early on, and he decides to drop deeper to get involved before firing a speculative effort straight at Speroni, who makes a comfortable save.

That Austin shot has sparked a reaction from the home fans, who are urging their side to step up the tempo when they do have the ball in midfield. There doesn't look to be much between these two teams. It's been a scrappy start.

Much better from Palace. It's a clever piece of play from the wing by Bolasie, whose powerful strike is headed for the top corner until Green makes the save. Nothing spectacular needed by Green, but it was a comfortable stop.

OFF THE POST! Palace are quickly improving and they have just come agonisingly close to breaking the deadlock. It's a lovely move from the visitors as Ledley sets up Puncheon, whose curling effort strikes the outside of the post.

QPR are being forced back at the moment. Another extended spell of possession from Palace ends with McArthur firing a speculative effort over the crossbar.

Palace are controlling the game at the moment, but Millen will be desperate for his side to score while they are on top. The visitors attempt to cause problems with a long throw which is headed clear by Caulker.

QPR need to find a better way of retaining possession further up the pitch. Palace just keep on coming back due to the home side's failure to find Zamora. As a result both of QPR's forwards are looking isolated.

QPR take the pressure off by keeping the ball in midfield, where Barton and Henry have struggled to make an impact in the first half. No sign of a clear chance for the hosts yet.

The home fans are getting very frustrated with QPR's struggles to retain possession. Palace need to take full advantage when they can, but Bolasie and Puncheon are finding it hard to find the space they crave.

Better from the visitors as Zaha drifts out wide to link up with Bolasie and give QPR a few more problems. When Zaha does move away from central positions, Palace's midfielder have to fill the box. Dunne collides with Zaha in the box, but it's certainly not a penalty. A promising move eventually ends in disappointment.

Hoilett finds the space to exchange passes with Austin, but he fails to pick out his teammate again as a poor cross drifts out of play for a Palace goal kick.

The game hits another quiet spell as both sides struggle to make the right decisions on the edge of the box. In truth, there hasn't been enough quality on show at Loftus Road. The defenders are still on top.

Redknapp doesn't look too impressed with what he's seeing from the touchline. QPR seem to be lacking ideas as Palace comfortably clear a couple of long balls into the box.

QPR work the ball well in midfield before a ball into the box finds the head of Austin, whose effort is blocked in a congested penalty area. Palace break quickly in numbers, but Green comfortably collects from a Puncheon cross.

Lovely football from Bolasie as he picks out Zaha with a clever flick, but the shot that follows is poor as the ball drifts wide of the post.

Palace live dangerously by gifting Hoilett too much space, but his low effort is well blocked by Dann, who has been very good in the heart of the defence this afternoon.

YELLOW CARD! A promising Palace attack comes to an end when Hill picks up a booking for a late tackle on Mariappa.

HALF TIME: QPR 0-0 CRYSTAL PALACE

A tight first half finishes without a breakthrough. Palace have looked the sharper of the two sides from an attacking point of view, but they only really threatened once when Puncheon struck the post. Millen will be pretty happy, but Redknapp might be concerned with QPR's struggles going forward.

We mentioned Palace's struggles to find goals in recent weeks, and the statistics don't make for nice reading if you're an Eagles fan. In their last six Premier League away matches Palace have scored three times, and two of those were from the penalty spot.

BENCH WATCH: If Palace feel that the Zaha experiment is not working, they do have Fraizer Campbell in reserve. Zaha has done pretty well, but you do feel that he would be more comfortable out wide. Vargas, Mutch, Phillips and Wright-Phillips are all options for QPR.

Palace are out on the pitch for the second half already. Before the action gets back underway, here's a picture from the opening 45 minutes, which failed to provide many thrills.

QPR get the game back underway.

Very little to report in the early stages of the second half. Neither side have been able to build up an extended spell of pressure. The first goal could be crucial today.

CHANCE! QPR are just a few inches away from taking the lead as Fer fires just wide from the edge of the box after Barton's cross was cleared.

Poor from Bolasie as his corner is cleared away after Ledley had done superbly to put the hosts under pressure. QPR are starting to look a bit more confident at both ends.

It's not quite going right for Bolasie, who has been busy but disappointing in the final third. A loose ball falls to him midfielder, but he can only drag a shot wide after charging forward.

It's so difficult to choose between these two teams. Both are enjoying spells on top, but the attacking play on show has been disappointing. It could be a moment of magic or madness which makes the difference at Loftus Road.

Good work in the box from Henry as he gets back to clear the danger after Bolasie evades three QPR defenders with a lovely piece of skill. Much better from the Palace winger.

SAVE! Brilliant goalkeeping from Speroni as he reacts to tip Fer's long-range strike to safety. That would have been the moment of magic this games needs!

The pace is beginning to pick up now. QPR's fans are reacting by urging their side forward once again. However, playing on the break could suit Palace's pacey attack.

YELLOW CARD! Barton becomes the second QPR player to pick up a caution following a foul on McArthur in midfield.

Puncheon is gifted a yard of space by the Palace defence, but he fails to take advantage as a wayward strike sails into the stands.

SUBSTITUTION: Redknapp makes his first change of the afternoon as Fer comes off to be replaced by Vargas.

SAVE! Green comes to the rescue for QPR with a good save when Puncheon targets the top corner with a curling effort from 25 yards. Palace fail to cause problems from the corner which follows.

SUBSTITUTION: It's not a surprising first change from Millen as Campbell comes on to replace Zaha in attack.

Austin has just not had the chances he needs today, and his poor luck continues as a deflected header drifts wide. Jedinak got the crucial touch to deny the QPR striker. Palace manage to clear a second corner from Barton.

You've got to give credit to the Palace defence. They've managed to limit the space on offer to Austin, while Dann and Delaney have reacted very well when QPR have attempted to find Zamora with longer balls forward.

YELLOW CARD! Puncheon goes into the book for a challenge on Hoilett in a dangerous area. Can QPR take advantage?

QPR fail to cause a problem from the free kick, but they keep the pressure on. Caulker rises highest to meet a corner with a powerful header and he is only denied a goal by a brilliant clearance off the line from McArthur.

SUBSTITUTION: QPR make another change as Zamora makes way for Matt Phillips in a move which could see Vargas join Austin in the middle.

We're running out of time to find a winner. Palace have not been able to attack much in the past few minutes, but QPR are struggling to clear the final hurdle at the other end.

It won't come as a surprise to Palace fans, but Jedinak has been on top form once again for Palace this afternoon. Another vital tackle on Vargas halts a QPR attack. The Australian is largely responsible for the lack of service Austin has received.

QPR move the ball quickly from wing to wing, but a cross is deflected behind after Phillips had found the space to deliver. Palace then clear Barton's delivery into the box. Will there be a winner?

Five minutes plus stoppage time left at Loftus Road. QPR are the side on top in the closing stages, but Palace continue to look very comfortable at the back.

Campbell just hasn't been able to get involved since coming on. Palace are hitting balls into the channels when they clear, but Dunne and Caulker have not been troubled in dealing with the away side's limited threat.

SHOT! Palace only manage to clear a Barton corner as far as Hoilett, who disappoints the home fans by slicing wide of the target.

The fourth official confirms that there will be three minutes of added time played.

Palace have managed to relieve the pressure in stoppage time, and the chances of a winner being scored seem unlikely. In truth, neither team have really done enough to secure the win.

FULL TIME: QPR 0-0 CRYSTAL PALACE

It's all over. Green makes one final save from Puncheon before the final whistle, but you'd have to say that a draw was a fair result. Neither team were at their best, although their improved defensive performances will have pleased Redknapp and Millen.

That's all from our live coverage, but make sure you keep an eye out for analysis and reaction from every Premier League game. Goodbye everyone.
