Alan Pardew wants cup win at Palace

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has said that he wants to make history by winning a trophy with the club this season.

The Eagles have never won a major trophy, with their best showing coming in the 1990 FA Cup, where they finished as runners-up to Manchester United.

Pardew is confident that Palace can change that record and he is prepared to do more business in the transfer window to make that happen.

"The focus this season must be to keep the momentum we have got, maybe win a trophy and try and finish higher than 10th," he told the London Evening Standard.

"These are the ambitions I have. If we stay injury free, I would expect us to get close to that.

"I am thinking it could be a great year for us. Our fans are excited by the signing of Yohan Cabaye and we are not finished yet."

Palace begin their Premier League campaign with a trip to Norwich City on August 8.
