Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew backs 2022 Qatar World Cup to be held in winter

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew believes that a winter World Cup in 2022 in Qatar could be a success, despite the disruption to the Premier League and European leagues.

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew is not opposed to the 2022 World Cup being played in Qatar in the winter.

A FIFA task force has recommended that the tournament should be held in November and December due to the scorching temperatures in Qatar in the summer months.

Despite the disruption that will be caused to the Premier League and European leagues if the decision is given the green light, Pardew believes that everyone will just have to "deal with it".

"England certainly wouldn't benefit from a World Cup in the summer in Qatar - for our fans or for our players," Pardew told reporters in today's press conference.

"Qatar have won the process and we all have to understand in football that year could well be a winter World Cup. We have to deal with it and I'm sure we can.

"We have to organise our winter leagues and programmes around it accordingly. Can it be a success? Absolutely, why not? Most World Cups are a success."

FIFA will make the final decision on March 20.
