Dallas, New York Red Bulls play out goalless draw

Both sides are forced to settle for a point as the MLS match between Dallas and the New York Red Bulls ends in a goalless draw.

FC Dallas and the New York Red Bulls have played out a goalless draw in their MLS clash at Toyota Stadium.

The home side were the first to threaten as Fabian Castillo almost found a way through the Red Bulls defence, but Kemar Lawrence got back at the forward just in time to make a crucial block.

New York created an opening when Felipe found space down the left flank and tried a shot towards the near post, but Dan Kennedy was alert to the danger to make the stop.

In the second half, Felipe again tried to find a breakthrough for the visitors when he drilled an effort at goal from distance, but Kennedy was once again on hand to save his strike.

Dallas came within inches of taking the lead when Moises Hernandez lifted a cross to the back post for Michael Barrios. The midfielder fired a strike at goal which beat Luis Robles, but Felipe was on hand to clear the ball off the line.

The hosts had one final chance to try to steal a winner when a cross was not cleared by the Red Bulls and Castillo pounced on the loose ball, but he could only put his effort over the bar, forcing them to settle for a point.

Dallas are top in the Western Conference of the MLS, while the Red Bulls are third in the Eastern Conference.
