Preview: Denmark Under-17s vs. Croatia Under-17s - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Thursday's European Under-17s Championship clash between Denmark Under-17s and Croatia Under-17s, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Denmark Under-17s will look to begin the European Under-17 Championship with consecutive victories when they face Croatia Under-17s on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Croatia are hoping to claim their first win after picking up a point in their tournament opener against Austria.

Match preview

Denmark began their seventh European Under-17 Championship appearance with a 2-0 victory in Monday's clash with Wales.

Chido Obi opened the scoring in first-half stoppage time, before Sofus Johannesen doubled Denmark's advantage in the opening stages of the second period.

They ultimately saw out the remainder of the contest to clinch a third consecutive victory in all competitions and extend their unbeaten run to seven matches.

Having got off the mark with a win, Denmark are looking to advance to the European Under-17 Championship knockout rounds for the fourth time.

They know that a win on Thursday would seal their spot in the quarter-finals even before they face Austria on the final matchday.

Croatia head into Thursday's contest with a point on the board after beginning their campaign with a goalless draw against Austria.

As a result of that scoreline, Croatia have now seen their last five competitive matches produce one win, two draws and two defeats.

Although they have found wins hard to come by, Croatia will be pleased with the fact that they have claimed clean sheets in their last two outings.

Croatia will hope that a solid backline can help them avoid another group-stage elimination after failing to reach the knockout rounds in their last two appearances at the European Under-17 Championship.

As a result, they are looking to reach the quarter-finals for the first time since that they reached the last eight in the 2015 tournament.

Team News

Denmark boss Jesper Mikkelsen could be tempted to select an unchanged lineup after seeing his side get off to a winning start against Wales.

Arsenal's Obi will be looking to continue his impressive form, having scored 10 goals in 14 appearances for Denmark Under-17s.

As for Croatia, Bruno Durdov, Dukan Ahmeti and Tomas Bakovic are all in contention to start after missing the tournament opener through suspension.

Mislav Cutuk also missed the draw with Wales due to a one-match ban for yellow card accumulation in qualifying, but the forward is expected to be given the chance to lead the line on matchday two.

Denmark Under-17s possible starting lineup:
Breum-Harild; Lutzhoft, Sondergaard, Markmann, Andersen; Moalem, Lassen, Hojer; Johannesen, Hyseni, Obi

Croatia Under-17s possible starting lineup:
Rajic; Mikic, Zebic, Puljic, Mandic; Pajsar, Vojvodic; Durdov, Bakovic, Ahmeti; Cutuk

We say: Denmark Under-17s 2-1 Croatia Under-17s

Denmark will be full of confidence after beginning their campaign with a win, and we think that they will edge out Croatia to kick off the tournament with back-to-back victories.
