Derby County have confirmed that midfielder Will Hughes will be out for six months with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
The 20-year-old was stretchered off in the first half of Saturday's goalless season opener at Bolton Wanderers and will now undergo surgery.
The Rams revealed on their website this morning that the England Under-21 international is expected to be out until around February.
Hughes has been a mainstay for Derby the last three years, scoring eight goals in 125 Championship appearances.
