Doncaster Rovers close to naming new manager

League One side Doncaster Rovers have drawn up a shortlist of names and plan on making a new managerial appointment within "the next 10 days".

Doncaster Rovers have announced that they hope to have a permanent manager in place within the next 10 days.

The League One side are on the search for a new boss following the sacking of Paul Dickov last month.

Having now drawn up a shortlist of names, Rovers plan on making an appointment over the next fortnight.

"The club can confirm that the shortlist has been drawn up and that process is now complete," a statement on Doncaster's official site read. "Amongst the shortlist are a mixture of managers who are currently not in employment and those that are currently employed in managerial roles.

"The calibre of the applications has been very high and the club are very pleased with all discussions to date. The club aim to appoint the best first team manager for the short, mid and most importantly long term of the football club.

"The club expect to conclude the recruitment process and select the new manager in the next 10 days. Until then please continue to back Rob Jones and the team starting tomorrow in our local derby against Barnsley."

Jones has previously expressed his desire to take up the role on a permanent basis, while former Leeds United boss Neil Redfearn is also thought to be interested.
