Dundee United manager Peter Houston is hopeful that a reformation of the Scottish league system could bring a "freshness" to the nation's domestic game.
The SFA, SPL and SFL proposed a number of changes to their structure yesterday which included an enlarged top tier and a more inclusive playoff format.
"I am not against it," Houston told Sky Sports News. "We would need to get something sorted out that looks attractive. There are some clubs who are in the SFL who are big clubs in many ways, who spent a lot of money getting all-seater stadiums when they were in the SPL.
"They spent that much money they probably couldn't enhance the team on the pitch which means they couldn't get back up.
"It has crippled them in many ways so if it is a bigger league and clubs are going to earn a wee bit more money then that's great and it might bring a freshness to the game."
United, who finished fourth in the SPL last season, begin the new Scottish campaign at home to Hibernian on August 5.
