Jim Jeffries resigns as Dunfermine Athletic manager

Jim Jeffries resigns from his position of first-team manager at Dunfermline Athletic.

Dunfermline Athletic have confirmed that Jim Jeffries has stepped down as first-team manager with immediate effect.

The former Hearts and Bradford City boss had been in charge at East End Park since 2012.

Financial difficulties meant that the Pars suffered two successive relegations under the stewardship of Jeffries, with the club dropping from the Scottish Premiership into Scottish League One.

"The Board wish to place on record once again their extreme gratitude to Jim Jefferies for everything that he has done for our club over the last couple of seasons," a statement on Dunfermline's website read.

"There is no doubt that many other managers might have walked away from our club, faced with the difficulties in front of him. Jim's influence, experience, dignity and leadership were an integral part of the efforts to save our beloved club from insolvency.

"We ask all Pars fans to remember this as Jim's legacy, and he will of course always be welcome at East End Park."

Head coach John Potter will take charge of first-team affairs until the end of the season, with Neil McCann continuing as assistant manager.
