Egypt focus on positive showing at London 2012

Egypt manager Hany Ramzy is confident that his team can provide inspiration for his troubled nation at London 2012.

Egypt football coach Hany Ramzy is hopeful that London 2012 can be a source of inspiration for his countrymen.

The African nation has been through an extremely difficult time, with political tension and civil unrest dominating the headlines.

Ramzy believes that his team can overcome a tough build-up to produce a positive showing in the men's Olympic football tournament.

He told Sky Sports News: "It was very difficult for us because the players could not play and it was difficult for us as a team to concentrate.

"We were not allowed to play friendly games at home so we have had to work as the national team like a club side would work.

"For us it's a positive for us to be at these Olympics, we have to show to the world that even if we have had trouble in our country we are still proud to play for our country and we can show football in Egypt is still alive."

Egypt begin their quest for Olympic success with a daunting opening group game against tournament favorites Brazil on Thursday.
