Half-Time Report: Empoli leading against Napoli

Riccardo Saponara and Manuel Pucciarelli find the net as Empoli take a 2-1 half-time lead over Napoli in their Serie A match.

Empoli have taken a 2-1 lead into the break of their Serie A clash with Napoli at the Stadio Carlo Castellani this afternoon.

Riccardo Saponara gave Empoli the perfect start when he was slipped beyond the defence by Manuel Pucciarelli, before guiding a composed finish into the corner past Pepe Reina.

However, Napoli hit back quickly and within four minutes they were level, as Lorenzo Insigne curled a strike from just outside the box into the top corner.

The teams weren't level for long as in the 18th minute Empoli regained their lead when Saponara drove to the byline and pulled the ball back for Pucciarelli to slot in from close range.

Insigne then threatened to score his second of the match when he was found unmarked at the back post from a free kick, but he saw his low drive kept out by Lukasz Skorupski.

Skorupski was called into action again moments later, as he rushed off his line to save at the feet of Manolo Gabbiadini.
