Empoli and Torino play out goalless draw

Empoli and Torino play out a goalless draw in Serie A, with the latter reduced to 10 men late on.

A resolute defensive display from Torino earned them a goalless draw away to Empoli in Serie A this evening.

The hosts went close early on when Jean-Francois Gillet was forced to tip Simone Verdi's free kick around the post, before the 22-year-old, who is on loan from Torino, was again thwarted by the goalkeeper.

Fabio Quagliarella tried his luck with an audacious overhead kick, but Empoli keeper Luigi Seppe was equal to the chance shortly after the restart.

Empoli piled the pressure on towards the end of the game and they nearly had their reward when Gillet almost spilled the ball over the line when coming to collect a cross.

Torino were reduced to 10 men in stoppage time when Pontus Jansson was given his second yellow, but there was not enough time for the home side to make the most of their numerical advantage.
