Matt Le Tissier has criticised James Milner and Ashley Young for their performances during England's Euro 2012 exit to Italy.

Former England international Matt Le Tissier has blasted the national side's wingers for a poor showing at Euro 2012.

The Three Lions were dumped out of the tournament after a 4-2 penalty shootout defeat to Italy in the last eight.

James Milner and Ashley Young have both received criticism for their roles in the defeat with the latter missing his spot-kick during the shootout, and Le Tissier has expressed his concern over the position.

"Roy Hodgson has a way that he likes to play and he's rigid in that," said Le Tissier.

"It'll be interesting to see if he adapts or if he sticks with 4-4-2.

"The wide players have let England down. There wasn't enough from Ashley Young or James Milner. They were both pretty poor and were our weakest spots across the course of the tournament."

Le Tissier was capped eight times by England.
