Roy Hodgson pleased to see England players at top clubs in Premier League

England boss Roy Hodgson is delighted to see so many players in his squad playing for the clubs inside the top four of the Premier League.

England boss Roy Hodgson has revealed that he is pleased to see so many of his players plying their trade at the top of the Premier League.

Five players in the Three Lions squad for their Euro 2016 qualifiers against San Marino and Estonia are currently in Arsenal's first team, while Liverpool also boast a four-man contingent.

The 67-year-old has admitted that he is delighted to see Arsene Wenger and other top-flight managers giving young English talent a chance to develop in high-quality teams.

Hodgson told reporters: "The best England players gravitate towards the Champions League teams and teams at the top of the table.

"It was not so long ago we had five Liverpool players but it is nice to see people like [Alex] Oxlade-Chamberlain and [Jack] Wilshere really starting to reach the potential that I know Arsene always believed that they had.

"Kieran Gibbs is another one, and the signings of Danny Welbeck and Calum Chambers, who did not come through the Arsenal ranks, has given them two more players, so we are pleased with them and the work they do and I hope Arsene will be too."

England face Estonia in their Euro 2016 qualifying clash on Sunday.
