Gabriel Agbonlahor wants England return

Gabriel Agbonlahor says that he wants to stay fit in order to earn a place in England's Euro 2012 squad.

Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has targeted a spot in England's Euro 2012 squad after overcoming a hamstring injury.

The frontman, who was omitted from Stuart Pearce's 25-man squad to face Holland this week, has admitted that he isn't ready to compete alongside the Three Lions just yet.

"I think I was never going to be in this squad because I've been out for a few weeks," the Daily Mail quotes Agbonlahor as saying. "I just want to get back playing, getting my fitness back up, I'm not ready for England yet.

"Hopefully I'll be looking forward to getting some more games and some more goals and try and break into the squad for the next one. Hopefully I can get myself on the plane [to the Euros], it would be fantastic."

The 25-year-old returned to action in Villa's 0-0 draw with Wigan Athletic following weeks plagued with injury.
