Roy Hodgson "welcomes" Greg Dyke's 'B team' plans

England boss Roy Hodgson lends his support to the FA's plans to introduce 'B teams' for elite-level clubs.

England boss Roy Hodgson has said that he "welcomes" the plans from Football Association chairman Greg Dyke to introduce 'B teams'.

Dyke wants to increase the number of English players at the top level, and feels that the one way of doing it is to bring in secondary sides for some of the Premier League's biggest clubs.

Hodgson said in a statement: "I welcome the proposals and I know that the chairman - and indeed everyone who is passionate about English football - would strongly advocate these findings and recommendations.

"Having worked at all levels of football across different countries and cultures, I have some reference points about what needs to be done in England.

"But I am just one voice of many who have contributed to this important study, and I hope that the debate that has been provoked can lead to some real developments in our game."

Hodgson names his World Cup squad on Monday.
