Stuart Pearce: I'm not ready for England job

Stuart Pearce admits that he is not experienced enough to succeed Fabio Capello as the England manager.

England under-21 manager Stuart Pearce has admitted that he is not experienced enough to succeed Fabio Capello as the national team boss.

The Italian's contract with England expires after next summer's European Championships and he has openly stated that he has no plans to extend it.

Speaking after his side's 2-1 victory over Norway this evening, Pearce ruled himself out of contention due to his lack of management experience.

"I have managed a football team - be it in the Premier League or international football - for less than 200 matches," Pearce told BBC Radio Five Live.

"I think the job needs somebody who is vastly experienced."

The former Manchester City boss has however admitted that he would be keen to take charge of the Great Britain team at the Olympics Games in London next year.
