Gareth Southgate is reportedly being considered as a possible replacement for England coach Fabio Capello.
The former Middlesbrough boss, who took over as the FA's head of elite development at the start of 2011, has impressed to the extent that he is among potential suitors to succeed Capello after next summer's European Championships, according to The Mirror.
The Italian has announced that he will leave his current post after the competition, irrespective of England's final standing.
Southgate, who won over 50 caps for England in his career, was part of the Three Lions side that reached the semi-final of Euro 96 before being beaten by Germany.
