Chris Sutton has admitted that he was disappointed with England's display at the World Cup as they failed to progress beyond the group stage.
Roy Hodgson's side recorded their worst performance at the competition since 1958 as they failed to win a single game in the tournament.
The former Blackburn Rovers man feels that the Three Lions should have at least advanced to the second round in Brazil, despite the quality of opponents in their group.
Sutton is quoted as saying by The Mirror: "I was totally underwhelmed by England in the World Cup. They didn't play well at all.
"There was all this stuff about the group of death with Uruguay, Italy and Costa Rica but it was a group I would have expected England to qualify from.
"It was disappointing. You have to hit the ground running in big tournaments and England didn't - and it cost them."
England face off against Scotland in their friendly clash later today.
