Gareth Southgate is reportedly poised to replace Stuart Pearce as manager of the England Under-21 side following their failure at the European Championship.
Pearce's side have lost both of their group games in the competition so far against Italy and Norway and as a result have crashed out of the tournament.
Now, the former Manchester City manager is facing showdown talks with the FA regarding his future, while Southgate is the favourite to take over should Pearce's contract not be renewed, reports The Sun.
The 51-year-old has been in charge of the Under 21s since 2007.
