England manager Roy Hodgson has revealed that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is showing plenty of improvement in his fight for fitness.
The winger's participation at the World Cup had been in doubt after he picked up a knee injury during the team's 2-2 draw with Ecuador last week.
However, Oxlade-Chamberlain's performances in training over the past two days have given Hodgson cause for optimism.
"Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain did very well, you may have seen the running he was doing," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "Very positive, he was running so well and so fast and we will be stepping up his recovery in due course."
England start their World Cup campaign on Saturday when they face Italy in Manaus.
