England defender Joleon Lescott has backed Wayne Rooney to avenge his nightmare in Montenegro two years ago and help them to gain control of their World Cup qualifying group.
The Three Lions face the Group H leaders in Podgorica on Tuesday for the first time since the visitors threw away a two-goal lead before Rooney was sent off during qualification for Euro 2012.
The Manchester United striker missed the first two games of last summer's tournament as a result of the dismissal, but Lescott believes that Rooney has learnt from the incident.
"Wayne is older now. He is more experienced and mature," Lescott told ESPN.
"We all are. I don't think there will be a problem. We want to be disciplined and professional. With the calibre of players in this squad, I don't think it will be a problem."
