Ruben Loftus-Cheek has admitted that he was relieved Harry Kane was in the right place at the right time to score the winning goal for England in their World Cup Group G opener on Monday night.
The Tottenham Hotspur striker scored inside the first 11 minutes of the encounter, and managed to find a 91st-minute winner in a 2-1 victory over Tunisia.
Loftus-Cheek, who earned his first England call-up in November, replaced Dele Alli in the 80th minute and played a part in the goal as he won the corner that led to Kane's winner.
During a chat with the FA's YouTube channel, Loftus-Cheek said: "I was at the near post and I looked back and saw Harry there and thought, thank god it is Harry to put it in."
England's next game will be against Panama on Sunday.
