Espanyol defender Hector Moreno will reportedly have surgery on his broken tibia this week.
The centre-back picked up the injury during Mexico's 2-1 defeat to Netherlands in their World Cup last-16 clash on Monday.
Espanyol released a statement on Monday confirming that the highly-rated defender had suffered a fracture and would therefore require surgery.
According to AS, that will occur this week, with Moreno expected to miss at least the first four months of the 2014-15 campaign.
Before the injury, Moreno had been strongly linked with a move away from his Spanish club this summer.
