Everton manager Sam Allardyce will miss the side's Europa League trip to Apollon Limassol due to "a long-standing medical appointment".

Everton manager Sam Allardyce will miss the side's trip to Apollon Limassol in the Europa League on Thursday night.

The Toffees are already out of the competition thanks to a disastrous performance in Group E, which has seen them take just one point from their five group games.

Allardyce will not make the trip out to Cyprus for the dead rubber, according to The Telegraph, due to "a long-standing medical appointment".

Assistant Craig Shakespeare and first-team coach Duncan Ferguson will instead be in the dugout for the encounter, while Allardyce will prepare for this weekend's Merseyside derby with Liverpool.

Allardyce has previously revealed that he will only send out fringe and youth players for their final European game, warning travelling fans to "be mindful that I am going to send a team that is not going to be risking too many players".
