Everton's David Unsworth: 'Qualifying for Europa League knockouts not impossible'

Unsworth: 'Not impossible to qualify'

Everton interim manager David Unsworth says that it is not an "impossible" task for the team to get back on track in the Europa League.

David Unsworth has insisted that his Everton team will 'give everything' to put themselves back into contention for qualification to the knockout rounds in the Europa League.

The Merseyside outfit are at the bottom of Group E, four points adrift of the top two places heading into Thursday's clash against Lyon.

Unsworth will be overseeing his first European fixture since taking over from sacked Ronald Koeman, who recorded two defeats and a draw in the group phase.

"I want to win the game," the temporary coach told reporters. "We've got an uphill task but it's not impossible. So, when something isn't impossible, we go for it, and I certainly want to go for it tomorrow, win the game and hopefully we can then win the last two games as well.

"We're absolutely focused on winning the game. It's a great opportunity for our group of players to come to a magnificent stadium, against a really good team and put in a top performance and win the game. We're looking forward to it. I can assure you we'll give it everything."

Everton have lost twice since Unsworth was handed the reins on an interim basis.
